Jazz San Javier is pleased to offer fans the return to the festival of one of the jazz pianists we admire most. Bill Charlap is one of the pianists who best recreates standards and one of the most delicious bop and hard bop soloists.
During his career he has played with jazz giants such as Tony Bennett, Clark Terry, Gerry Mulligan, Phil Woods and Sheila Jordan, among many others.
He was the recipient of the Jazz Journalist Association's 2003 Jazz Pianist of the Year award and is the Director of Jazz Studies at William Paterson University in Wayne, New Jersey.
His wonderful album with Tony Bennett “The Silver Lining: the songs of Jerome Kern” gives great sentimental value to his visit to the festival, after the disappearance of the great Tony Bennett last year. Well, this album, along with those that Tony recorded with Bill Evans in the seventies of the 20th century, has been one of the best that the legendary singer recorded in his entire career and one of the milestones in Bill Charlap's fantastic discography.
Bill Charlap: piano.
Noriko Ueda: double-bass.
Carl Allen: drums.
